The minefield analogy is real. In March, the US Copyright Office said that works created using artificial intelligence may be copyrighted, provided the work meets a "human authorship requirement."
However, in August, a US federal judge said AI-generated artwork can't be copyrighted.
So, which is it? As the Verge recently observed, "Nobody really knows how things will shake out around US copyright law and artificial intelligence."
