Is It Time to Switch Your Default Web Browser?

May 23 2016

techhelp Browser LogosAre you aware of the downfalls of using an outdated web browser? Tricia Stamper, Director of Technology products for Florida Realtors®, recently published a blog post about the downfalls of not using a modern web browser.

The article lists seven reasons why REALTORS® who use Internet Explorer should consider moving to Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge sooner rather than later.

In truth, this issue affects all web users – not only those in the real estate industry – and others are also talking about this issue here, here and here, for instance.

Nevertheless, we bring up Stamper's article for two reasons:

  1. 'Browser issues' is among the top three reasons that members call Tech Helpline about, and Internet Explorer is the web browser at the root of the most calls – overwhelmingly so.

  2. It asks real estate professionals a very important and timely question: Given the importance of the Internet in our industry, and given the improved technology, if you are using an old version of Internet Explorer, is it time for you to switch?

With that in mind, this month we offer some tips to help you understand which browser you are using, learn more about other browsers, and know what to do when you are ready to make the switch.
